What Cannot Be Recycled

Recycling in British Columbia has changed dramatically over the past few years. This change will continue, as business, government, and the public work together to find new and better ways to reuse, recycle and reduce.

GIRR is funded in large part by the CRD, and as such, we are obligated to provide recycling services to residents of Galiano for printed paper (newspapers, magazines) and packaging. All other recycling services that we offer are either through partnerships with stewardship programs, or are funded through memberships and donations from people like you. Below is a list of just some of the things that we do not accept:

PVC plastic.  (Polyvinyl chloride) often used for plumbing pipes.

Plastic Car parts.

Any plastic item that contains glass or metal (or rope, or wood, etc...)
